Mirjam Burer
Mirjam is a visual artist and has been teaching at the Academy of Art Design of the Brabant University of Professional Education since 1987. Over the years she has made study tours to many countries including Mexico, Thailand, United States, Pakistan, Indonesia, India, and Burma. While on her travels she collected images and seeds from native plants grown as crops by the local people.
Mirjam’s work has developed into a form of creative art that deals specifically with the theme of humanity’s relationship to the ecological environment. In her work, paintings, photography, prints and publications, Burer emphasizes reciprocity, multiformity, colours and contrasts. Her hand guides visually to research and the creation of ideas. She has an urge to actively confront nature and harness it by cutting and pasting.
