Elina Chauvet

Elina was born in Casas Grandes, Chihuahua, Mexico. She began as a self-taught artist, later studying painting, ceramics and sculpture. She now resides in Mazatlan, MX with her husband and two children

She has participated in more than thirty group shows including four Northwest Biennials (representing the five states of North-west Mexico), and ‘Three artists from Sinaloa’ in Juarez, 2003. She has also had two solo shows in the State of Sinaloa, “Virgins and miracles” and “A hearth on the edge”.

Her work has earned numerous awards and Honorable Mentions, including two awards at the Biennale Noroeste. She also received a grant from the Culture and Arts Commission of Sinaloa for the artists in the 2006-2007 edition of her project the “Reality of Realities”.

In the United States, she had a residency and exhibit ‘Signals” at Goucher College, Baltimore, Maryland in 2005, which then traveled to exhibit in Hollywood, Florida in 2006. Elina also received a full grant for her art project “me and my self” at the 2005 Burning Man festival in Nevada.
