Rachel Hibbard
I work thematically, allowing the materials employed to bring their own dynamic to each project.
“Weather” begun in 2000, focuses on climate change. I approach this enormous subject in a variety of ways: collage, sculptural and installation.
Currently I am working on several series exploring struggle; on the Home front, calendars, flags and games
I have worked with community art education projects such as Gallery 37 in Chicago, Orlo, Willamette Riverkeepers and PSU Recycles, the Goodwill Industries, and curate exhibitions for commercial and college galleries and environmental arts organizations.
Venues for my work include the Cultural Center of Chicago, the State of Illinois Gallery, the Betsy Rosenfield and Kline Galleries in Chicago, the Detroit Building, Maryhill Museum, and the Portland Institute of Contemporary Art.
