The relationships between spirit and matter and between magical practices and natural processes are what interest me. I combine paint, found materials, other media and writing to make art that reflects my concern for the natural world and its future. Collaboration with other artists is an important part of my process. I founded Miz-Maze Theatre in 1986 to explore the reinterpretation of myths, particularly those that express our interdependence with nature, into contemporary, mixed-media installation and performance. Since 1986 I have ben the director of the Project Space Program at Gallery Route One in Point Reyes, California. The program With the Earth:Art and the Environment presents the work of environmental artists. This interaction with other artists feeds my own work and connects me to a world larger than that of my own immediate concerns as an artist.
