Mickie McCormic: I am a printmaker and fiber artist in Mendocino, California, primarily in surface design and quilting. I specialize in transferring my photos onto fabric, but work in many other techniques too — wet-felting, making dolls out of my felt or recycled fabrics, jewelry making, altered books and artist books. Since coming here as an artist in residence, I’ve had the fun of learning new things like encaustic, natural dyeing, and paper making. I teach image transfer and fabric dyeing with an emphasis on not wasting water. My workshops are listed on the Mendocino Art Center’s website and mine, and I teach small classes in my studio as well.
