I received an MFA in photography from the San Francisco Art Institute in 1990. I now do painting, collage, and digital photomontage. I have done many series dealing with social issues. The most recent I started in the 2016 run-up to the presidential election and is called Patterns. It is about how women are supposed to adhere to patterns and are trying to break out of them. Included in the collage elements are tissue patterns, such as the type my mother used for sewing for her 3 daughters. I have a collage/painting series on the Patriot Act, which includes page from a law book on the Patriot Act. (I used to be an attorney.) I am also continuing projects having to do with land ownership and land use. I am worried about the future of my country and want to use art to open eyes to what I think will make the world a better place.
