I am Pantea Karimi, a multidisciplinary artist, investigating the intersection of art, science and history through medieval Persian, Arab and early modern European scientific manuscripts. My current project revisits my earlier interest in science as a high school student and explores a new perspective through the lens of art. The study of these early scientific materials enables me to combine visual and conceptual interpretations from my research with my own life narratives. These draw on the cultures and countries where I’ve lived, namely Iran, the UK and the US. I create interactive installations and two-dimensional works using silkscreen and digital illustration techniques and prints.
