Oregon born Remedios Rapoport is a recognized Pacific Northwest artist. In 1988 Rapoport began a study of Filete Porteño from the masters in Buenos Aires, Argentina, receiving her BFA degree from the Pacific Northwest College of Art in 1989. With support from the Oregon Arts Commission and the Regional Arts and Culture Council of Portland, Oregon her work has been collected and exhibited nationally and internationally. By 2007 her paintings infused with Filete, evolved into sculptures and installations. Within her on going body of work The Gentle Revolution, a new genre of art known as Word Portraits was born.
