ARTIST STATEMENT
My work embodies a fascination with how physical, psychological, atmospheric and spiritual experiences in land can translate into two dimensions through the breadth of possibility of water-based media.
Having grown up among a family of geologists and artists whose ancestors took part in the settling of the West, my deep affinity is for the desert. I satisfy my longing for desert topographies by revisiting psychological and metaphysical memories and sensations through the action of paint.
My practice-a cycle of walking, collecting, mapping, and painting-is continually inspired and renewed by specific places in Nevada’s Basin and Range area and the Mojave.
