My art is intended to raise awareness of the biodiversity crisis. In the last 50 years, 2/3 of all wild animals have been wiped off the face of the Earth due to human activities. My activism on behalf of animals and the planet is a major influence on my art, as is my volunteer work in wildlife rehabilitation and cat rescue. Over the years, I have donated a portion of proceeds from my art sales to the following organizations: Center for Biological Diversity, Sea Shepherd, Food Empowerment Project, Wildlife Center of Silicon Valley, The Dancing Cat, Humane Society of Silicon Valley, and Town Cats.
I believe that art can be a powerful and effective way to help foster empathy for all species. Nature is my church, and that idea is reflected in my art. The natural world is sacred – we humans need it for our physical sustenance – but we also need nature for our spirits. Without wild animals and wild nature our lives are impoverished. My art is cultural resistance to ecocide.
