My interdisciplinary practice draws on history, memory, and survival to visually examine relationships among identity, narrative, and trauma. My desire to understand my contemporary sense of self is fueled by my investigations in both personal and public histories. Labor and repetition provide an expanding framework for understanding difficulties within physical and psychological contexts. The futility and transience of my labor and its by-products yield evocative objects of questionable beauty and value. By exploring narrative, identity, and trauma I inextricably link my understanding of empathy and compassion to deeply seeded genealogies of activity. The symbolic relationship between my work and my life directly correlate to my desire to understand my sense of humanity.
