The Eastern Sierra Interpretive Association in conjunction with the Inyo National Forest will be conducting an art competition as part of the Grand Opening Celebration for new Bristlecone Pine Forest Visitor Center. Both the interpretive association and the Forest Service have long identified the need for a top-of-the-line art image to promote the importance of the preservation of the ancient trees and to celebrate the grand opening of the new visitor center, scheduled for September first of this year. The competition is dedicated to the memory of Jeffery Scott, renowned eastern sierra water color artist and supporter of the ancient forest.
Artists and photographers are invited to send an email to bristleconeart@gmail.com to receive additional information and an entry form to learn more about the competition and the $750 stipend for the winning image. The competition will be open to both amateurs and professional alike from May 1st through June 30th.
Additional information can also be obtained by calling John Louth of the Inyo National Forest at (760)-873-2514 or Susie Fix of the Eastern Sierra Interpretive Association at (760) 873-2411.
