WEAD MEMBERSHIP EXHIBITION:
Use it up, Wear it out, Make it do, Or do without: Lessons from our Grandmothers.
The title is a depression era adage taught by wise grandmothers and families in need. Selected art should focus on eco and cultural values of conservation, preservation and frugality. To protect animal and plant partners, humans and earth, it is essential we consume less and conserve resources.
The exhibition will feature text and image work curated by highly-respected gallerist Donna Seager. Accepted media will include 2-D wall work, books, altered books and calligraphy.
San Francisco Central Library’s Jewett Gallery is proud to host the WEAD members’ exhibition in celebration of Earth Day 2017. The Jewett Gallery is located in San Francisco’s culturally rich Civic Center.
WEAD (Women Eco Artists Dialog) is an international artists organization which focuses on ecological and social justice issues. The exhibit will honor WEAD’s 20-year history in San Francisco, in anticipation of the 100th birthday of WEAD’s co-founder Jo Hanson, San Francisco eco artist-activist.
