ART FROM DETRITUS 2015

The economy is in trouble & we still have too much garbage!
If you Upcycle trash into art, your art could be part of the solution!!!

It’s happening again! The exhibit “Art of Detritus: Recycling with Imagination” features fine art from cast-off materials created by professional artists from throughout the world. The heart of this exhibit is the message of the three R’s: Reduce/Reuse/Recycle & UPCYCLE!

The 2015 Art From Detritus Exhibition is a juried competition for dynamic, inventive and provocative work created from a multitude of materials that would have been discarded INTO OUR ENVIRONMENT if not rescued for artmaking.

The exhibit will occur February 24- March 14, 2015 at Viridian Artists in Chelsea. www.viridianartists.com

This exhibit will be curated by Vernita Nemec, artist/curator, founder of Art from Detritus, former director of Artists Talk On Art in New York City, currently Director of Viridian Artists and an artist as well.

Nemec curated the first Detritus Exhibition in 1993 receiving funding from The Puffin Foundation, the Kaufmann Foundation and the National Recycling Coalition. Since then, there have been more than a dozen Detritus exhibitions throughout the U.S. in Pittsburgh, Kansas City, MO, Phoenix AZ & NYC. See images of and information on past Detritus shows at www.artfromdetritus.com.

There will also be a Detritus fashion show of garments & jewelry made from throw aways & trash !
