350.org is looking for an experienced arts-organizer and facilitator to join our team in developing projects and processes that best embrace the unique talents of artists and creative organizers to create impactful social change. This is a part-time contract through September with renewal possibility. While we’d prefer that this position is based out of an existing 350.org office (Sao Paolo, Brazil or New Dehli, India), this position can be based anywhere in the Global South.

About the Global Artivist Coordinator Position

NOTE: The Global Artivist (Artist + Activist) Coordinator position will ideally be for someone based in and/or with substantial experience in the “Global South” (outside of Europe, North America, and Australia).

We are seeking someone who can bring new creativity into the global movement for climate justice, both by recruiting and supporting talented artists and by inspiring existing activists to be more creative in their organizing and campaigning. This person would be part of a small team, and would have a strong focus on the Global South.

Responsibilities:

Facilitating and supporting an online network of creative artivists by:

  • Facilitating collaborative creative projects.

  • Supporting the development and use of innovative tactics that confront the climate crisis and/or articulate alternative future narratives.

  • Supporting the development of culturally relevant creative projects and innovative use of traditional local art-forms.

  • Developing artivist resources.

  • Empowering others to use storytelling (in all forms) to share news and projects from the global frontline.

Position may include organizing and leading in-person trainings that support the development of regionally resonant creative tactics.

Required Qualifications

  • Experience developing creative projects for social and environmental justice

  • Group Facilitation skills

  • Experience coordinating collective and/or participatory projects

  • Ability and willingness to travel occasionally

  • Fluency in English, multiple languages a strong plus

  • Experience managing projects, teams, and volunteers

  • Strong email communication skills, comfort working remotely with colleagues in multiple time-zones via skype, conference calls, and other online tools.

Desired (but not required) skills and experiences

  • Experience working as intermediary for artists and activists

  • Knowledge and passion about the global climate crisis

  • Experience working with both NGOs and grassroots groups

  • Connection to existing networks of artists

  • Personal background in the arts or graphic design

  • Skill in strategy and campaigning

  • Experience and competency working in multi-cultural groups

We are looking for someone who is comfortable working both independently and in teams, highly responsive, and able to lead initiatives as well as take direction from others.

Position Type: part time

Compensation: Compensation based on experience

Location: This position will ideally be located outside of Europe, Australia, or North America.
