The City of San Jose Public Art Program is seeking an experienced artist, or artist-led team, to develop a community engagement protocol and pilot artwork for education and awareness around the residential waste water system. Specifically the focus of this project is proper management of Fats, Oils, & Grease (FOG) supporting the health of the City’s waste water system infrastructure. The selected artist/team will work collaboratively with City of San Jose staff to explore community awareness of the issue, and develop an inventive outreach/engagement pilot program encouraging responsible FOG management in the home, and build overall consciousness of the importance of this vital infrastructure. It is expected the pilot program will include an art component/intervention that can be utilized by the City beyond the pilot period in multiple locations.
Due to the potential frequency of outreach and community engagement, this opportunity is open to individual artists or artist-led teams working or living in the following counties: Santa Clara, Santa Cruz, San Mateo, San Francisco, Alameda, Solano and Marin.Â
