This semester’s Collaborative Project class is focusing on performance art in the Bay Area. We began our investigation with Site Works, an interactive website created by University of Exeter Deputy Vice Chancellor and Professor of Performance Studies Nick Kaye. His website pinpoints significant performance art projects that took place in San Francisco from 1969-1985. Using this geography and time period as a launching point, we have chosen six artists to highlight. The Site A Live will feature objects and works related to these artists. Works by these artists focus on temporality, the body and the mechanical. Other themes include healing, ritual, the blurring between art and life, existential questions and layers of perception. The Site A Live will be in dialogue with work from Linda Mary Montano, James Lee Byars, Terry Fox, Ginny Lloyd, Darryl Sapien and Jim Pomeroy. Collaborators include Lisa Boling, Anita Giansante, Carolin Rechberg, Alex Molinari, Minoosh Zomorodinia and Eva Recinos.
